About us

WJS Transcription Services is the sister company of WJS Secretarial Services, (which provides a bulk dictation typing service to the legal, financial and property sectors.  If you are looking for a typist then please go to www.wjs-typing.co.uk).

 

The split from WJS Secretarial Services took place in August 2009 to accommodate a Premium Transcription Service.  We are here to provide a 'top notch' service, giving you access to some of the most experienced and skilled transcribers around the country. 

 

Our client base is ever expanding across the whole of the UK.  Our skills and experience are increasing as well as we continue to serve across all industry sectors.

 

What makes us different from other transcription companies?

We are keen to be able to offer a competitive price but still be able to remunerate our freelancers a fair and reasonable amount for the hard work they put in, not to mention the many years of experience and skills they have between them.

 

We have an in-house team that quality checks transcripts before they are sent back to you. 

 

Included in our price is for the recording to be transcribed, the quality of the audio (as it takes longer to transcribe a recording with background noises for instance), for the project to be managed to meet deadlines and finally, for the transcript to be quality checked and returned to you.

 

We provide usable transcripts.

 

From Wendy, in her own words...

"My background is in the legal services industry as a secretary and PA working within blue chip firms in London.  I started out transcribing many years ago for an employer who needed conferences transcribed.  Back then, I didn’t know about the transcription services industry and I had to transcribe by stopping and starting the tape machine!  It drove my colleagues mad!  At that point, I realised it was a full blown industry and I found out that I could get hold of a standard tape machine with a footpedal and was able to complete my conference transcription.  

 

My skills grew from there and I was the ‘go to’ person for all the departments within the company for their transcription needs.   When I was made redundant, I started my own service to local companies and it has grown from there to today, where I am able to offer transcription nationwide.  So basically, ‘I’ve been there, seen it and got the T-shirt’ with regards to the transcription industry.  I know exactly what it takes to transcribe an interview and what skills are necessary to produce a usable transcript.

 

My team and I provide a first-class, quality service.  We are here to provide a service first and foremost and we are committed to being very open, honest and approachable.

The Team...

Wendy's team comprises of Paul Smythe (Manager) plus 35 transcribers - with over 55 years experience between them.  All are based in the UK.  We pay them for their skills and time and they continue to be the backbone of WJS Transcription Services.

 

We also provide feedback from the quality checking process back to our transcribers as constructive criticism so that they can improve their skill set. 

 

All industry sectors are covered by WJS Transcription Services' team.
