If you are a competent transcriber and have experience dealing with diverse material, we would like to hear from you.  We only accept applications from UK based transcribers, with English as your first language.

 

To be able to work as a transcriber, you will need to have the following:

 

  • a good level of written and verbal English;

 

  • be conscientious, reliable and have a professional approach to your work;

 

  • able to work to tight deadlines;

 

  • excellent listening skills;

 

  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Word;

 

  • typing speed of at least 65wpm;

 

  • have a high-spec PC;

 

  • have relevant transcription software installed on your PC;

 

  • good headset, such as Plantronics DSP; 

 

  • a broadband connection;  

 

  • good availability; and 

 

  • a reliable email address.

 

You will be asked to undertake 3 tests:

 

  1. grammar and punctuation
  2. proofreading; and
  3. short piece of transcription

 

Only when you have passed all three tests will you be accepted to work as a transcriber for WJS Transcription Services.
